I am Dageus MacKeltar, a man with one good conscience and thirteen bad ones, driven to sate my darkest desires... From his penthouse lair high above Manhattan, Dageus looks out over a glittering city that calls to the darkness within him. A sixteenth century Scot trapped between worlds, he is fighting a losing battle with the thirteen Druids who possess his soul, dooming him to an eternity of sexual pursuit.
When Chloe Zanders, student of antiquities, is drawn into his world, she finds the insatiable Alpha male an irresistible lure. Before long, she is caught up in an ancient prophecy that will sweep her back in time to medieval Scotland. Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting thirteen evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man...
Review
I don't think this review will be long because I don't have much to say. Not that I didn't like it, I thought this book was pretty good, it just didn't leave me... wanting more I guess? Though I will finish the series, it's not my favorite. I cant even really think of it as a series, the first two went together, Beyond the Highland Mist & To Tame a Highland Warrior, then you had The Highlander's Touch out of the middle of nowhere, then The Kiss of the Highlander, and The Dark Highlander went together. When I think of a series I think of The Black Dagger Brotherhood, or Sookie Stackhouse, where the characters are connected in some way, even if its small. Anyways.. In the last book Dageus had to go back in time to save his brother from dying, ultimately turning himself "dark". So now he has 13 evil souls in him trying every chance they can get to make him use magic so they can be released back into the world. Chloe is a lover of fine antiquities, and she is asked by her boss to turn over an ancient tome to Dageus. She is reluctant to do so, but Dageus has donated two priceless pieces to the museum already. She goes to deliver the book to him only to find he's not home. So what does she do? She snoops. And gets caught. So he ties her to his bed. He liked her from the moment he saw her, and knew she was a virgin. While 'tooping' helps calm his dark side, I really appreciated that he had enough sense to realize that if he went looking for another woman in order to "save" Chloe from his, er.. passions, he would lose her. He knows that, inner demons or no, Chloe would see it as unfaithfulness. I thought that she trusted him way too fast. The whole time she thought he was a womanizer, but after a week of knowing this man she decides its ok to go to Scotland with him, I think not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only reason I picked up this series was because I loved the Fever Series and everyone said the Fever series is a result of the Highlander Series. I don't see it. The only thing in common is the fairies and the MacKeltars'...
Okay, maybe it wasn't so short..
