Plunged into a world of timeless magic and dark seduction, she will soon face the challenge of a lifetime: fighting thirteen evil spirits for the heart of one irresistible man...

 Review

I don't think this review will be long because I don't have much to say. Not that I didn't like it, I thought this book was pretty good, it just didn't leave me... wanting more I guess? Though I will finish the series, it's not my favorite. I cant even really think of it as a series, the first two went together, Beyond the Highland Mist & To Tame a Highland Warrior, then you had The Highlander's Touch out of the middle of nowhere, then The Kiss of the Highlander, and The Dark Highlander went together. When I think of a series I think of The Black Dagger Brotherhood, or Sookie Stackhouse, where the characters are connected in some way, even if its small. Anyways.. In the last book Dageus had to go back in time to save his brother from dying, ultimately turning himself "dark". So now he has 13 evil souls in him trying every chance they can get to make him use magic so they can be released back into the world. Chloe is a lover of fine antiquities, and she is asked by her boss to turn over an ancient tome to Dageus. She is reluctant to do so, but Dageus has donated two priceless pieces to the museum already. She goes to deliver the book to him only to find he's not home. So what does she do? She snoops. And gets caught. So he ties her to his bed. He liked her from the moment he saw her, and knew she was a virgin. While 'tooping' helps calm his dark side, I really appreciated that he had enough sense to realize that if he went looking for another woman in order to "save" Chloe from his, er.. passions, he would lose her. He knows that, inner demons or no, Chloe would see it as unfaithfulness. I thought that she trusted him way too fast. The whole time she thought he was a womanizer, but after a week of knowing this man she decides its ok to go to Scotland with him, I think not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only reason I picked up this series was because I loved the Fever Series and everyone said the Fever series is a result of the Highlander Series. I don't see it. The only thing in common is the fairies and the MacKeltars'...

Okay, maybe it wasn't so short..

The Promises She Keeps

Title: The Promises She Keeps
Author: Erin Healy
Genre: Christian Fiction/Suspense
Format: Paperback, 352pp
Author Website

Synopsis

It's her destiny to die young. The man who loves her can't live with that.
Promise, a talented young singer with a terminal illness, is counting on fame to keep her memory alive after she dies. Porta is an aging sorceress and art collector in search of immortality.
When Promise inexplicably survives a series of freak accidents, Porta believes that she may hold the key to eternal life.
Enter Chase, an autistic artist who falls in love with Promise and fascinates her with his mysterious visions and drawings.
Soon, all are plunged into a flesh-and-blood confrontation over the mystery and the cost of something even greater than eternal life…eternal love.

Review

Promise has horrible luck. All in 25 days she fell off a cliff, got ran over by a car, got electrocuted, and trapped in a basement that was on fire. On top of that she has Cystic Fibrosis. She doesn't expect to live long, but she doesn't have a death wish either. This was an odd book, I still don't understand the meaning behind it. I know it was supposed to have an inspiring message in it but I didn't catch it. It left me with more questions than I began with. I get angry with books when the characters don't do something I think they should do, like ask questions or listen to what people are saying. There were too many secrets, the reader kind of knew what was going on, but the characters were to stubborn to listen. Over all it was a pretty good book.

Synopsis

A laird trapped between centuries...
Enchanted by a powerful spell, Highland laird Drustan MacKeltar slumbered for nearly five centuries hidden deep in a cave, until an unlikely savior awakened him. The enticing lass who dressed and spoke like no woman he’d ever known was from his distant future, where crumbled ruins were all that remained of his vanished world. Drustan knew he had to return to his own century if he was to save his people from a terrible fate. And he needed the bewitching woman by his side....
A woman changed forever in his arms...
Gwen Cassidy had come to Scotland to shake up her humdrum life and, just maybe, meet a man. How could she have known that a tumble down a Highland ravine would send her plunging into an underground cavern — to land atop the most devastatingly seductive man she’d ever seen? Or that once he’d kissed her, he wouldn’t let her go?
Bound to Drustan by a passion stronger than time, Gwen is swept back to sixteenth-century Scotland, where a treacherous enemy plots against them ... and where a warrior with the power to change history will defy time itself for the woman he loves....

Review

All I can say is wow. This book totally blew me away! I hope the rest of the books in this series are half as good as this one. This starts out as your average romance story. Gwen travels to Scotland on a senior citizen tour bus, looking for her "Cherry Picker". While sunbathing, she knocks her back pack down a cliff. She goes down to retrieve it only to find her self falling into a cave. Once she gets to the bottom she realizes she has landed on top of an unconscious man. Gwen is instantly in awe of him, but once he wakes she knows somethings not right. This man believes he's from the sixteenth century. She knows he needs to get help, but he convinces her to travel to his castle to learn the truth. I completely fell in love with this book. They find each other by mistake, fall in love, get ripped from each other, have to re-fall in love with each other, just to get ripped away again. I cried at least three times while reading this book. I would just get so angry. the closer you get to the ending the madder I get. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it, so you have to pick this book up soon, even if you don't want to read the whole series. You wouldn't miss much anyways.

Synopsis

A Warrior of Immortal Powers
He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty—and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also the woman he had foresworn to destroy.
A Woman Caught In the Mists of Time
When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st-century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing. Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that this man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own....

Review

This was a very cute story. I liked the fact that you weren’t completely sure what was going to come next. There were a lot of twists and turns. You knew there was going to be a HEA but it had some extras packed in there. I couldn’t stand Adam Black in Beyond the Highland Mist. He made me so mad. But in this book you get to understand him a little bit better, and why he is the way he is. I liked how Circenn took control of the situation. He loved Lisa like no other and he vowed to give her everything she ever wanted. He found a way to make her past better and get the girl at the same time. It was my kind of happily ever after! This is  my favorite out of the series so far!

To Tame A Highland Warrior

Title: To Tame A Highland Warrior
Series: Highlander Series #2
Author: Karen Marie Moning
Genre: Romance
Format: Paperback 416pp

Synopsis

Only her love could gentle his savage soul—
He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair. Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side—into a competition to win her hand in marriage.

Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father's manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him—even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both....

Review

This story was ok. It continued on from Beyond the Highland Mist, Grimm gets summoned to Caithness, with an urgent message that only says “Come for Jullian,” Grimm races to her side, only to be thrown into a competition for her hand in marriage. It was easier for him to say no to her when she was a lass, but now she is a woman he can’t help but notice her. Grimm is the only man Jillian has ever loved but he encourages her to find another. He denies her as long as he can but eventually gives in. Afterward he finds that not everything is as it seems.

WHO IS SAINT GIOVANNI

Photobucket

WHO IS SAINT GIOVANNI? It is a young adult paranormal romance novel written by Rane Anderson.

Starting April 11, 2011 Rane will post a new section of the book on her website every week, and a talented artist will be preparing an illustration to go along with every single installment. And by the end of the year the whole book will be online!

The Summary:

Emily Edwards has snooped too far into her father’s personal affairs—affairs being the key word—and is sent away from home for calling him out. She is an aspiring journalist who seeks the truth behind every story—good and bad—so her dilemma is a tough one. Emily can tell her mom the truth, breaking the heart of the person she loves most. Or, she can suck it up, bend her principles, and start her junior year in the land of her Roman ancestors.

Miserable, and hating herself for not coming clean, Emily’s arrival in Florence, Italy feels like the start of a grim prison sentence. But the world gets a little brighter after she meets Giovanni. Or rather, after she meets his lips as he pulls her into his arms, kisses her, and then vanishes, leaving her with the most dangerous desire of all: curiosity.

When fate brings them together for a second time, Emily the Journalist emerges, determined to replace her curiosity with the truth. Who is this mysterious boy? Why did he kiss her and then disappear? But as Emily already knows, poking into people’s private lives doesn’t always end well.  Although some people call Giovanni a saint, others call him a devil. Emily soon discovers she’s put herself in peril just being near him. After going her whole life without making a single enemy, someone suddenly wants her dead. And her life depends on finding the answer to a single question. Who is Saint Giovanni?

Update

I know I haven't posted a review in a while, but I promise I have been reading. I am currently reading Karen Marie Moning's Highlander Series. I'm not impressed with the series, but they're not boring. A lot of them have the same plot, and they're written in the same context so I have decided to do a series review when I'm done. I have already posted a review for Beyond the Highland Mist. I am finishing reading number three of eight now so be patient, I have been traveling lately and I don't have a laptop. Its on my wish list! I hope you have a good week! Happy Reading!
