No one is like Daemon Black. When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Synopsis

Trapped in the underground theater world of 1890s New Orleans, Hale Ferrer has only one goal: escape. But not without Teeny, the orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect.

Freddie Lovel, Hale's wealthy Parisian suitor, seems to be the easy solution. If only his touch could arouse her interest like Beau's, the penniless stagehand who captures her heart.
Denying her fears, Hale is poised to choose love until an evil lurking in their cabaret-home launches a chain of events that could cost her everything.

Review

Leigh is the author of The Truth about Faking, which I absolutely loved, so when she asked me to review this book I was super excited! This book did not let me down. It was absolutely amazing! Leigh is such a talented writer. Her words make you feel like you are right there in the story, her characters are so believable. If you ever get a chance to read one of her books, do it! You will not be disappointed.

I have never read a book with two love interest where I couldn't choose just one. Usually I immediately fall for one and the other I can't stand. I do have to say, I rooted for Beau a little more than Freddie only because he tried so hard to get Hale to choose him. He got a second job and found a house, he knew Hale's real story. As for Freddie, he has money and a house a high paying job. But Hale has to act around him, she can't be herself. Freddie loves Hale so much, I thought there had to be more too it.

This is a gripping story of a girl who has to grow up too fast. Only seventeen and taking care of twelve year old Teeny, an orphan-girl she rescued from the streets and promised to protect. Torn between duty and her true love. I understand why she does some of the things she has to do. My heart broke for her and the things she had to go through. You have to read this story!

Synopsis

What if you lost your true soul mate, the one person in life you were meant to be with? Would your love ever truly die? Not if you’re Noah Hartman, who refuses to let go of Robin after she inexplicably abandons their love and disappears from his life seemingly forever, her hidden secret yet to be discovered.

And when you finally accept your fate and do your best to move on with your life, what do you say when the unthinkable happens: your true love Robin reappears as your wedding ceremony to another woman is about to commence, looks deep into your soul with her loving, tear-filled eyes, and tells you the one thing you’ve desperately longed to hear for all of these years?

But the ending to this heart-wrenching love story has yet to be written, as Noah, old and sick in a hospital bed, tells his story of love and loss to Josh, a wise orderly at Mount Sinai Hospital. As his family members arrive to bid him goodbye, Noah discovers a far greater truth about his past, present, and future. Things are definitely not as they appear as the pieces of a shattered love are put back together in the remarkable final chapter of Noah’s life.

Review

Wow! I definitely did not expect the book to end that way. It caught me off guard and I even teared up a little bit. It made the whole book that much more heart wrenching.

In the beginning it was a little confusing for me. The way it goes back and forth from past to present, sometimes with no warning. I had to back track and reread a couple times to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I understand the whole you love who you love thing but if I was Noah, and Robin treated me like that I would kick her to the curb. So many times I wanted to reach into the book and slap her. Then other times my heart broke for her because of all she went through.

Over all this is a great Romance. Any fan of Nicholas sparks will absolutely adore Sebastian Cole.

Review

This is such a cute story! This is the kind of romance book I like to read! The description pretty much sums up the whole book. I can't say any more or I will give the whole thing away! The twist at the end is just the icing on the cake! You should really go pick up this book right now.

In the opening of the book, we meet Harley. She is such a great character! We were all that age once, and its fun to reminisce of the days when we were boy crazy. You think you've found your prince only to discover our little girl minds have tricked us.

I immediately fell in love with Jason! He is so sweet. The creek parts are my favorite!

I think this book could easily become a series. I know I  would love to get to know this little town better!

Overall, I absolutely loved this book! And I think you will too!

Author Interview & GIVEAWAY

Today, I would like to welcome Valerie Franklin to The Blogging Book! She has taken some time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions for us, and she has also been gracious enough to giveaway 2 copies of Always A Hero. The cool thing is the winners get to choose which format they want! That's right! You can choose eBook or Print! This woman is amazing! Okay, Now on to the interview!

Tell us a short Bio about yourself:

I always wanted to write, and wrote my first book in sixth grade and my
mother still has it. In high school I was the editor of my school newspaper
and thought I wanted to be a journalist, but my shyness made interviewing
almost impossible. So I decided that journalism wasn’t the career for me.

After spending five years in the Army, where I met and married my
husband, John and started a family, the bug to write came again. Watching
the antics of my four children, I decided to get a degree in Children’s
Literature and write children’s books, but even as I wrote short stories for
my children I didn’t pursue publishing them.

Then came the Harry Potter phenomenon and I began writing Harry Potter
fan fiction under the pseudonym of Professor Scroll. Reading the reviews
on my stories gave me the impetus to sign up for NaNoWriMo (National
Novel Writer Month) and cram a years’ worth of writing into the month of
November.

This novel is the third one I’ve written during NaNoWriMo.

What inspired you with the idea for this Book?

The prologue wrote itself one evening. The rest was a compilation of two
different projects.

What was the easiest/hardest part about writing this book?

The hardest part was naming the characters. Rebecca’s name changed
four times.

Is there anything you wish was different about the book?

I am never finished. I am always tweaking what I write. When I was writing
Harry Potter fan fiction, when I received a review that someone would have
liked me to expand on a subject, I would. It’s much harder to do that with a
printed book.

What's a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

Most of this book was written during the month of November. I have a
regular 9-5 job so I usually write in the wee hours of the morning. I am a
night owl. I also find that I write a lot during car trips while bouncing ideas
off my husband. Paper and pen are never far away.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

I’m not sure yet. I was scared spitless, but I loved my first book signing.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

That’s a hard one. J K Rowling – of course. Janet Evanovich - the
Stephanie Plum Series – they are so amusing. I just sit and giggle my way
through them. Tolkien. Tom Clancy.

If you could jump into a book and live in that world... Which would it be?

Harry Potter – as Professor Scroll I did just that in my story Witches and
Wizards and Trains – Oh My! Which can be found on the HP fan fiction site -
Sink Into Your Eyes

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?

Write.!

Write every day and don’t let anyone talk to out of it.

Take writing courses. You can always learn grammar, punctuation and
spelling or use your spellcheck option on your word processing program.
But only you can tell the story you have bouncing around your head.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?

Yes. The project I’m working on is about a serial killer. At the moment I’m
thinking this will be a three book series.

When and why did you begin writing?

The dream has been with me since I was 11 when I wrote my first book.
Too much imagination! When I read a book, I always come away with
questions or that I would have like to see this or that scene expanded.
Hence – fan fiction.

How many books have you written?

Including fan fiction – 12 so far.

Is this book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

No, not really. The only similarities are that I and my husband were
both in the Army and my husband loves Spiderman – hence Paul
having ‘spidey-sense’.

How do you react to a bad review?

I cringe. Read it again and move on. We learn from our mistakes.

Where is your favorite place to write?

My home office. Everywhere is there are too many distractions.

Thank you so much for taking time out of you day to answer some questions for us! I have had a blast!

Heart Waves Blog Tour: Character Post and Giveaway

First off I would like to thank Danielle for including me in this blog tour. I absolute loved Heart Waves! Be sure to check out my review here. Now on to the Character Post! This is from Jenna's POV.

Thank you so much Ashley for having me here today! I am so excited!

I'm not psychic. It's important to understand that. I don't pretend to be either. I just pick up energy and interpret it. That's what I was doing when I met Reece Walton. We were at a party, one I didn't want to be at, and I became the main attraction. I got to bust this total loser for cheating on his girlfriend, so I didn't mind too much. Especially since I owed him for the one date we went on. As if you can call parking in a dark desolate location in hopes of getting . . . I digress.

It was after his teary eyed girlfriend ran from him that I heard Reece's voice. I stopped dead in my tracks. It was the most beautiful sound I ever heard. Reece slipped his ring in my hand. I knew right then and there I would fall desperately, hopelessly in love with him. I also knew in that moment he would break and shatter my heart.

Torn between the promise of a once in a lifetime love and soul crushing heartbreak I had a choice to make. At least I tried to convince myself I had a choice. I struggled with keeping Reece at a safe distance while at the same time enjoying every minute with him. Until the night I saw him at the boardwalk walking with another girl. I hated him at that moment, but not as much as I hated myself, or her. That was the night I gave in. Even knowing he could very well destroy me, I knew I had to be with him. Already he possessed my heart. He was my soul mate.

If you want to know more you're going to have pick up the book and take the journey with us.

Such a tease! This book is amazing! You will not be disappointed!

We can't forget about the giveaway now can we?!

Danielle has kindly donated 1 eBook version of Heart Waves!

Review

Let me start out by saying this book is amazing! Danielle has a way with words that makes you lose yourself in the world she has created. This book had me captivated from the very beginning. I didn't want to put the book down. When I had to, I couldn't wait to get back to reading. For me that makes an amazing story.

The characters were so easy to connect with. They were down to earth, like someone you could bump into on the street. That always makes the story more believable. I am a sucker for romance, and this book lays it on thick! I can not wait for the second book to come out!

I can not say enough about this book with out giving away all the details. So take my advice and go pick this one up!

Paris, 1774. At the tender age of eighteen, Marie Antoinette ascends to the French throne alongside her husband, Louis XVI. But behind the extravagance of the young queen’s elaborate silk gowns and dizzyingly high coiffures, she harbors deeper fears for her future and that of the Bourbon dynasty.

From the early growing pains of marriage to the joy of conceiving a child, from her passion for Swedish military attaché Axel von Fersen to the devastating Affair of the Diamond Necklace, Marie Antoinette tries to rise above the gossip and rivalries that encircle her. But as revolution blossoms in America, a much larger threat looms beyond the gilded gates of Versailles—one that could sweep away the French monarchy forever.

Book Trailer:

Excerpt: Wife 22

For fans of Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and Allison Pearson’s I Don’t Know How She Does It comes an irresistible novel of a woman losing herself . . . and finding herself again . . . in the middle of her life.

Maybe it was those extra five pounds I’d gained. Maybe it was because I was about to turn the same age my mother was when I lost her. Maybe it was because after almost twenty years of marriage my husband and I seemed to be running out of things to say to each other.

But when the anonymous online study called “Marriage in the 21st Century” showed up in my inbox, I had no idea how profoundly it would change my life. It wasn’t long before I was assigned both a pseudonym (Wife 22) and a caseworker (Researcher 101).

And, just like that, I found myself answering questions.

7. Sometimes I tell him he’s snoring when he’s not snoring so he’ll sleep in the guest room and I can have the bed all to myself.
61. Chet Baker on the tape player. He was cutting peppers for the salad. I looked at those hands and thought, I am going to have this man’s children.
67. To not want what you don’t have. What you can’t have. What you shouldn’t have.
32. That if we weren’t careful, it was possible to forget one another.

Before the study, my life was an endless blur of school lunches and doctor’s appointments, family dinners, budgets, and trying to discern the fastest-moving line at the grocery store. I was Alice Buckle: spouse of William and mother to Zoe and Peter, drama teacher and Facebook chatter, downloader of memories and Googler of solutions.

But these days, I’m also Wife 22. And somehow, my anonymous correspondence with Researcher 101 has taken an unexpectedly personal turn. Soon, I’ll have to make a decision—one that will affect my family, my marriage, my whole life. But at the moment, I’m too busy answering questions.

As it turns out, confession can be a very powerful aphrodisiac.

 The Reluctant Marquess
- Maggi Andersen

Charity Barlow wished to marry for love. The rakish Lord Robert wishes only to tuck her away in the country once an heir is produced.

A country-bred girl, Charity Barlow suddenly finds herself married to a marquess, an aloof stranger determined to keep his thoughts and feelings to himself. She and Lord Robert have been forced by circumstances to marry, and she feels sure she is not the woman he would have selected given a choice.

The Marquess of St. Malin makes it plain to her that their marriage is merely for the procreation of an heir, and once that is achieved, he intends to continue living the life he enjoyed before he met her.

While he takes up his life in London once more, Charity is left to wander the echoing corridors of St. Malin House, when she isn’t thrown into the midst of the mocking Haute Ton.

Charity is not at all sure she likes her new social equals, as they live by their own rules, which seem rather shocking. She’s not at all sure she likes her new husband either, except for his striking appearance and the dark desire in his eyes when he looks at her, which sends her pulses racing.

Lord Robert is a rake and does not deserve her love, but neither does she wish to live alone.

Might he be suffering from a sad past? Seeking to uncover it, Charity attempts to heal the wound to his heart, only to make things worse between them.

Will he ever love her?

Excerpt - The Proposal

This is an original historical novel by Mary Balogh -
 On sale 5/1/2012.

Gwendoline, Lady Muir, has seen her share of tragedy, especially since a freak accident took her husband much too soon. Content in a quiet life with friends and family, the young widow has no desire to marry again. But when Hugo, Lord Trentham, scoops her up in his arms after a fall, she feels a sensation that both shocks and emboldens her.

Hugo never intends to kiss Lady Muir, and frankly, he judges her to be a spoiled, frivolous—if beautiful—aristocrat. He is a gentleman in name only: a soldier whose bravery earned him a title; a merchant’s son who inherited his wealth. He is happiest when working the land, but duty and title now demand that he finds a wife. He doesn’t wish to court Lady Muir, nor have any role in the society games her kind thrives upon. Yet Hugo has never craved a woman more; Gwen’s guileless manner, infectious laugh, and lovely face have ruined him for any other woman. He wants her, but will she have him?

The hard, dour ex-military officer who so gently carried Gwen to safety is a man who needs a lesson in winning a woman’s heart. Despite her cautious nature, Gwen cannot ignore the attraction. As their two vastly different worlds come together, both will be challenged in unforeseen ways. Always a Hero

Title: Always A Hero
Author: Valerie Franklin
Genre: Romance
Format: eBook,
Source: Author, Requested Review

Synopsis

Terror comes in many forms…

For Rebecca it began before her husband was deployed to Iraq. In her misery, she wanted him to hurt as much as she was hurting, so she hurled hateful words that once said, could not be unsaid. In the four months since she stood with their small son, Sean, at her side on the blistering tarmac, a fake smile pasted on her lips and waved until the plane was a tiny speck in the sky, she had spent hours trying to find a way to apologize, but she found it too hard to apologize in a letter.

She wished that she could have rewound the clock and that she had thought before blurting out that she wanted a separation. It was only after shouting the words and seeing her husband’s reaction that she understood just how much words can wound.

For Paul, the words cut deeper into his heart than any bullet. He had to go where he was assigned; the Army didn’t wait for any man. In his mind he understood that it was stress speaking and not his wife’s heart, but knowing that he had to go with the words hanging between them cut him to ribbons and made his heart bleed.

At first, he would scan each letter in fear that he would see the dreaded words that she had filed for divorce, but that letter never came. Contrastingly, his wife’s letters were full of everyday events that he was missing, pictures of Sean, and information about his parents. None of the letters had contained an apology, but Rebecca was writing each day, which gave him hope for the future.

Until Fate intervened tearing both of their worlds apart.

Her husband, her lover, the father of their children was reported as Missing In Action in Iraq, and all Rebecca wanted to do was crawl into a hole and pray for his safe return…but it was a luxury she was being denied. With Paul already missing, now their home, their possessions, her sense of security…everything they had built together was systematically being ripped from her. Her safety net was gone leaving her isolated and vulnerable…

Review

Mrs. Franklin wastes no time getting to the good stuff. You start out with a few details, just to get you sucked in, then she lays it on you. Good luck trying to put the book down after that.

I don't even want to imagine what it would be like to have a loved one in the military. I have a hard enough time with my husband leaving on business trips. That's two weeks at most. But there are people that go through it all the time. And reading this book has shone a whole new light on what these people go through.

The way Valerie describes the feelings and surroundings is wonderful. You get caught up in the story, you feel what the characters are going through, like you can relate to them.

This book is absolutely amazing. If you have not read it, I suggest you do that now. You will not be disappointed.

Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment has been unrecognizable from the vampire leader he once was. Physically emaciated and heartbroken beyond despair, he has been brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel. Now, fighting once again with ruthless vengeance, he is unprepared to face a new kind of tragedy.
When Tohr begins to see his beloved in his dreams—trapped in a cold, isolated netherworld far from the peace and tranquility of the Fade—he turns to the angel in hopes of saving the one he has lost. But because Lassiter tells him he must learn to love another to free his former mate, Tohr knows they are all doomed....
Except then a female with a shadowed history begins to get through to him. Against the backdrop of the raging war with the lessers, and with a new clan of vampires vying for the Blind King’s throne, Tohr struggles between the buried past and a very hot, passion-filled future…but can his heart let go and set all of them free?

What inspired you with the idea for this Book?

Thinking about vampires in general. There are all these vamps running around. Didn’t any of them have
kids before they became vampires? Alex did. He also admitted becoming a vampire wasn’t the brightest
move he ever made, but it seemed to follow other bad decisions. After watching his own son for awhile,
he decided he wanted to watch his progeny.

How did you get interested in writing this particular genre?

I’ve always been interested in the paranormal. If there is good, it must be balanced by evil. I wanted to take something considered evil and turn it around. Alex became a detective because it was a way to be helpful.

What was the easiest/hardest part about writing this book?

The easiest part were definitely the characters. Alex showed up one day, and I told him to go away because I didn’t have a story. He bounced back with Lisa and the kidnapped child. The absolute hardest part was finding an obscure language.

What's a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?

A typical writing day is anything but typical. All I can say is that it involves writing and editing, and preferably not of the same work at the same time! I do like to set a goal of 100 words a day. That idea is from another writer friend of mine. That way I can say I wrote. Generally, the real work output is between a few hundred and a few thousand.

What’s the best thing about being an author?

Letting the people in my head out! When I was working on my American historical series, I was getting
positively crazy. When I was finishing up Simon’s story, Luke, his partner, kept pacing about. I could
hear him nagging me. When was I going to be done? When was I getting to his story? Could I please
hurry it up, he wanted his book done.

Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?

Probably way too many to mention. I adore Joanna Lindsey’s earlier Malory family novels.

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world... Which would it be?

Oh my! I don’t know if that is a fair question. In my own books, I would love to visit 1874 U.S. This was
an exciting time with new discoveries on all fronts.

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?

Write. Write what you want to read, and write from the heart. Then, once it’s written, edit.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?

Lots of goals! Currently, I’m working on the edit for the third book of the President’s Orders series,
featuring Secret Service agents Simon and Luke. I am working on a short vampire story, and on an
inspirational romance novel. Just a little diversity. I can’t wait to get caught up with those projects
because I have a regency I would like to write.

Thank you so much for stopping by to answer those questions for us! It was fun getting to know more about you!

Tara has many books out now. You can check them out here!
