Synopsis
Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself-only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can-but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?
Review
Let me start out by saying J.R. Ward is my favorite author. I completely fell in love with the Brothers. So much that I felt depressed when I finished the newest book. When the release date came around I knew I had to rush out and buy it. I didn't and it was killing me. I was at the library a week ago, browsing through the 'New Books' shelf and I spotted it! I was so excited, I almost did a happy dance right there in the middle of the floor. I couldn't wait to get it home and start reading. I get home put some cartoons on for my son and dive into reading. I don't know what was so different about this book but I just couldn't get into a rhythm. I hate to say this but I didn't like this book. To me it seemed like J.R. was trying to hard to be 'Gangsta' in this one. I think there was too much going on.
My first complaint is Vishous, Maybe we didn't get to know him very good in his book but I thought he was very different in Lover Unleashed. He just didn't seem like himself. I don't know. Everything was just off for me. It took me 8 days to read this book, which is unusual for me. Usually I can knock out a Brotherhood book in two days.
Did anyone else fell this way?

The multiple storylines have typically converged seamlessly in the past. It felt as if they just reached a conclusion that is more a "to be continued" than a fluid ending. I liked the stories but I was surprised when I found myself on the last page. I think this is more a 3.5 star rating but I'm tipping it to 4 because the characterizations were so strong and V and Jane got their air time.
